IMPORT POLICY
CHAPTER
76
ALUMINIUM AND ARTICLES THEREOF
SUB-HEADING NOTES:
1. In this Chapter the following expressions have the meanings hereby assigned to them:
(a) Aluminium, not alloyed
Metal containing by weight at least 99% of aluminium, provided that the content by weight of any other element does not exceed the limit specified in the following table:

(b) Aluminium alloys
Metallic substances in which aluminium predominates by weight over each of the other elements, provided that:
(i) The content by weight of at least one of the other elements or of iron plus silicon taken together is greater than the limit specified in the foregoing table; or
(ii) The total content by weight of such other elements exceeds 1%.
2. Notwithstanding the provisions of Note 9 (c) to Section XV, for the purposes of sub-heading 7616 91, the term “wire” applies only to products, whether or not in coils, of any cross-sectional shape, of which no cross-sectional dimension exceeds 6 mm.
Policy Conditions of this Chapter:
b.Import Policy for the items as listed in Annexure-II have been revised from 'Free' to 'Free subject to compulsory registration' under Non-Ferrous Metal Import Monitoring System (NFMIMS).
c. 1[ The Non-ferrous metal Import Monitoring System (NFMIMS) shall require importers to submit advance information in an online system for import of items in the Annexure-I (for copper) and Annexure-II (for aluminium) and obtain an automatic Registration Number by paying a registration fee of Rs.500/-. The importer shall apply for registration before the arrival of import consignment. Registration can be applied not earlier than 60th day before the expected date of arrival. The automatic number thus granted shall remain valid for a period of 75 days.]

d. Importer shall have to enter the Registration number and expiry date of Registration in the Bill of Entry to enable Customs for clearance of consignment.
e. The Non Ferrous Metal Import Monitoring System
(NFMIMS) will be effective from 12.04.2021 i.e. for Bills of Entry filed on or
after 12.04.2021 for items listed at Annexure-I and Annexure-II to the
Notification. The facility of online
registration will be available with effect from 5th April 2021 at http://imports.gov.in.
